Help with translation of year 1746 baptism record from Retschow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin
I could translate most of the baptism record for Jochim Friderich Lange (entry 930). Please help with translating a few words and answering my questions. I included the title page of the book and previous page to the entry for reference. Since there are no column headings, I assumed that column 1 is the name of the parents, column 2 is the name of the child and column 3 is the name of the baptismal sponsors.
Thank you! Debra
[Entry] 930
Date and place of Baptism: The day of 24 June 1746 in Reinshagen [Since this is a baptism record, I assume the date and place is for the baptism and not the birth? The last letter of June does not look like any letter that I have seen before? I assumed that the year of the baptism was 1746?]
Name of Father: Clas Lange
Name of Mother: Je? Hage?orn
Name of Child: Jochim Friderich [Lange]
Name of Baptismal Sponsors/Godparents:
Frid: [Friderich] Winter
Jochim Lange
Jochhim Rewolten ?
[The handwriting in this record was relatively easy to read because I think most of it is Latin script. Is that right?]

Hello Debra,
You did very well with your translation. I agree with you interpretation of the column headings.
I copied your translation and made edits and additions in bold:
[Entry] 930
Date and place of Baptism: The day of 24 June 1746 in Reinshagen [Since this is a baptism record, I assume the date and place is for the baptism and not the birth? [I agree with your assumption that this is a baptismal date based on the title page of the book; however Reinshagen didn't have its own church so it is likely this is where the parents lived and where the child was born as opposed to where the baptism took place. Note in this column there are various places listed. Since this is a baptismal register from Retschow, it is likely the parents traveled the two miles from Reinshagen to Retschow to have the child baptized in the church in Retschow.]
The last letter of June does not look like any letter that I have seen before? [June is spelled "Junii" in this record (yes, the last letter "i" is elongated making it look more like a "y" or "j"). "Junii" is Latin and translates as: of June. So the date can be read as: 24th of June; but your translation of the date as "24 June 1746" is fine.
I assumed that the year of the baptism was 1746? [Yes, your are correct the year is 1746.]
Name of Father: Clas Lange
Name of Mother: Ilse Hagedorn
Name of Child: Jochim Friderich [Lange]
Name of Baptismal Sponsors/Godparents:
Frid: [Friderich] Winter
Jochim Lange
Jochhim Rewolten s. Frau = seine Frau = his wife.
My comment: Yes, the record appears to be written using the Roman alphabet, which is the alphabet most familiar to us as opposed to the more challenging German script. If you have other questions about this record, please ask. Keep up the excellent translation work!

Hi @Debra Palmer01,
You have a very good eye for detail, Debra. Yes, you are interpreting the : correctly that it means the name or word has been abbreviated.
Nicely done.

I agree with you that Reinshagen was likely the residence and birth place and Retschow was likely the baptism place. Thank you for your interpretation of that column. The other corrections and comments that you made about the record were all helpful and I'm learning a little more with each record that I translate. Thank you. Debra
Question: I translated the name Frid: as Friderich because I assumed : means that the name was abbreviated and I noticed that a few other names and words in the record are written like that such as Andz: . When I see : after a word it means that the name or word has been abbreviated?
