NOWADAYS, if a 2 Year "Reservation" Period has "Expired"; then, those that have "Expired" are AUTOMATICALLY "Released" from "Reservation"; and, are now automatically "Share[d] with the Temple System"; but, can be "Reserved" by any User/Patron.

If such is NOT the case; then, I suggest that you raise a 'Support' Case.

'Support' should be able to help/accommodate you.

Important note re: Expired reserved and printed Family Name Cards (FNCs)...Family Search sends a message to the person who reserved the name(s) that (1) The reserved status has expired, (2) that the names will be returned to the Temple system, and (3) expired FNCs that have been printed need to be destroyed to prevent unnecessary duplication of ordinances.

If you have tried contacting the person with the name and they don't respond,you can contact FamilySearch and explain the situation. They will release it and let you reserve the name.

It's possible that the name has been re-reserved for a special purpose (that can be done in some circumstances when it's a close relative). I'd contact FamilySearch directly to see what they can do.

Today at our FHC I assisted a sister with contacting FamilySearch to request two of her family names that were reserved by someone and shared with the temple. The sister that answered our call was very helpful. She took all of the patrons required information and the names and numbers of the two family members she was wanting to complete their temple work. She was turning the information over to be reviewed and told our patron that she should hear back in one to two weeks as to whether she will receive these ordinances to complete. I know that some people contact the person that has reserved and shared with the temple the ordinances but FamilySearch is suggesting that we contact them for help. They feel this is the better way.
