Introductions, New member
Is this the place for me to introduce myself? I consider myself Welsh (born and bred), though my British ancestry is the usual mix of Welsh, English, with some Irish and a German via Australia and New Zealand.
I've lived in Wales, England, Sweden and the US. Currently back in north Wales and no plans to move on. I relish helping others with their discoveries; seeing the joy when telling someone where their unknown grandfather is buried and why they share his name, or assisting the youth get to grips with Indexing and finding.
My UK ancestors come from Carmarthenshire and Glamorgan; my English are from Devon, Somerset and Avon, all coming to Cardiff when coal was king, Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire and Humberside (watermen). My Irish ancestors left for Victoria when everyone was leaving Ireland due to starvation. One of my hero ancestors in my German great-great-grandfather who survived the tragedy of the sinking of the RMS Tayleur in 1854.
I have research expertise in Welsh, English, Scottish, Swedish and American ancestry, with a smidgeon of German and Polish. I'm looking forward to connecting with the group in our mutual searches.
