Need help identifying the kind of widow Johan Martin ANDERSSON is identified as!
Johan Martin is recorded in the Swedish American Church Members Record and under the marriage column is a word I am struggling to transcribe/translate - it appears to say he is a form of widow. (I believe his wife is alive in Sweden and am trying to prove he returns to her). TIA!

I cannot make out the word you are asking about, but an index search in Arkivdigital gave this result (among others) for a Johan Martin Andersson born 23 August 1854 in the household records for Snårestad, Sweden (1913-1926). I suspect that this is your Johan, but don't know enough about him to be sure.

Yes, that is who I believe is the same man. I am trying to tie the records for 1900 and 1910 census for a Martin ANDERSON to the Swedish-American church register to the birth and death records in Sweden. In both census records Martin is a boarder - he appears as married for eight years in one and a widow in another. And then there is this notation in the church register - and like you I am struggling to figure it out - hoping to see Geoff this afternoon...

After looking at this record again today, and getting some fresh eyes on it, I think was it's trying to say is:
Hustrun i Sve/rige. Translated: The wife is in Sweden.

THANK YOU!!!! That makes so much more sense. For a relatively clearly written page this has driven me crazy.

I noticed a this morning that the birth for Johan was changed on the household records to 23 August 1854 from 24 June 1854. Searching for Johan Martin Andersson under that birthdate (24 June 1854), I found a bunch more information in the Index Search on Arkivdigital. I am attaching a screenshot of the information in case it may be of use to you.
