Prompt Invitees to Turn on Group Trees Early Access
As a suggestion, could Family Group invitations with Early Tree Access already setup also prompt invitees to opt in to Early Tree Access?
I'm trying to get my family around the country to join the family group and turn on Early Tree Access and its a bit of a hassle to do in two steps. Nevertheless, I am enjoying the product. Even if the answer is no right now, maybe there is an application for once Group Trees are fully released. A way to make setting groups and trees up more seamlessly.

Invitations to family groups that include Family Group Trees are already designed to include opting in to Early Tree Access. That's the purpose of the "fgt_test=true" at the end of the URL used for such invitations. If that's not working now, then that is a recently-introduced bug, since it used to work.
Note that once Family Group Trees are fully released, this entire issue will go away. There will then no longer be any separate option for Early Tree Access, and everyone will be able to use Family Group Trees with no requirement for a separate opt-in step. So this what you describe is certainly a significant hassle, but is a very temporary problem.

@Forrest Emmett As @Alan E. Brown stated, the invitation includes a code that automatically turns on the Early Access to Family Group Trees when your family member clicks on the link. If this has not been happening for you, could you tell us what operating system and browser you are using and the steps that you are taking to create the invitation. This information will help us to diagnose the problem.

I'm using Windows 11 home, and Chrome. It was about a month ago and my family joined the group about a week after I had created the group tree. They weren't able to view the tree until I had them turn on early access.

Hmm…that is odd. Was this a group that you had already created and just recently added a tree to it?

I had a similar experience. My family was unable to access the group tree until they enabled early access, despite having joined the group.

If they accepted the link through the app, (on a mobile device) that could happen, as the Android app does not yet have the Family Group Trees enabled. Do you know if your family member(s) accepted the invitation through the Android app?
