What about all the "old" living duplicates?

What is the intent of the new Family Group tree with the great living records to share.

Are we to assume that when it's final...should we then get the people in the group to delete (or merge...whatever is right) their personal living duplicates ==> with the goal to reduce duplicates in the tree?

There is no general statement that we should delete what has already been created privately, once it has been added to one or more Family Group Trees. This would be better left to each person's decision. I can see already from various posts here that feelings about divorces and step- and foster families is widely divergent. It may fit better to have some information NOT shared through the groups and kept privately. If everyone was expected to delete those private persons, this information could be lost.

Besides, I don't know about you, but I have a number of living people that I have created, farther out on my tree that probably will never join me in a Family Group Tree.
