Where can if find civil records for Pietragalla or Calitri, Potenza, Italy?
On my g-grandfather's 1884 marriage record, he indicates that his father Vincenzo Chieppa was a resident of Pietragalla and his mother Teresa Murano was a resident of Calitri. I have been searching for the death records for Vincenzo and Teresa and I have had no luck locating records for either Pietragalla or Calitri. I have navigated both the Family Search catalog and the Il Portale website with little success. Am I missing something? Any help REALLY appreciated!

Can you post the link to the marriage record from 1884?

Well...those are the records I located initially. Unfortunately, they do not cover the 1880's so at least I know I looked in the correct places. I appreciate your assistance, but I guess the records are just unavailable...so frustrating...sigh... Thanks anyway.

You might have to contact the commune or state archives directly. For example, in FamilySearch, it shows the book for the year of my GGF's birth as unconsultable. However, the commune has the extract of his birth record and I was able to get a copy of it by writing them.
Similarly, there are several years in the records here which are absent and the same issue is present in Antenati. Yet, the state archives were able to send me the indices of these years, which wasn't cheap. These records could exist, although they weren't filmed.

Thank you for your kind response. Because I am not sure that they died there, I'm hesitant to write for information. I will keep looking for later marriages or deaths which could narrow my search. Thank you again.
