Translation Needed
Hi I was wondering if someone would be able to translate this record from 1 January 1832. I am also concerned that the mother's name is Barbara Zbinden, which would have been her mother's married name, but I am thinking they still used the maiden names in that time frame. Anna was born 25 Dec 1831 and baptised 01 Jan 1832 as legitimate daughter of Johannes Zbinden, son of the late Christian, from Blumengarten [can't decipher the next bit], and Barbara Zbinden. Godparents were Joseph Nÿdegger from Linden, and the father's sisters.
Like you I would assume Zbinden is the mother's maiden name - just got married to another Zbinden (check other entries on the page whether other mothers are listed with maiden or married names), likely a fairly popular name in Guggisberg. There are two more possibilities to check this: 1) search the church records for a suitable marriage; 2) post your question to https://www.geneal-forum.com/phpbb/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=129&t=24967 - a member there has the index on canton Bern marriages (available on CD) and does look-ups (cannot promise that Guggisberg is already included in his version) ... will likely find it also if not married in Guggisberg.
