What happened to "Research Helps" and checking for duplicates?
Is there anyone else seeing this? The "research helps" no longer appear. When I do a search, I can find all sorts of sources -- these used to automatically appear in the "Research Helps" section, but not anymore. Also, when I create a new person the system does not automatically check for possible existing persons that are a match. So I end up creating a person only to find that there are duplicates. It wastes so much time. Any ideas/insights?

During RootsTech, Ron Tanner's sessions discussed how they were fine tuning the matching section so that it had to match more points or details on a record before it is offered as a suggestion. A way to help slow the bad suggestions which have been and sometimes I still see as a problem. Likely that happened so you see less suggested records and possible duplicate.

Often how many source hints and how many possible duplicates you get, as well as how many possible duplicates are found when first creating a person depend on the information you have entered and how specific or unique it is. It probably also depends on the location the people you are working on are in. I still get plenty of source Hints showing up and just last week I entered who I though was a new person and during that creation process had five possible existing people show up. They were all correct duplicates of the person I was entering that I was able to merge together. So the system is still working well. There must just be something about the people or places you are currently researching that is making it hard for the system to find these hints and possible duplicates for you.
