searching for records of my great great grandmother Marie Somerville -born sometime between 1855 to
Im trying to find records/information on my great great grandmother and her family, I know from a letter my great grandmother wrote me before she died that, her mothers name was Marie Somerville and that she met and married her husband (Eugene JeanJean) in Paris France. I know they had 6 children 2 girls and 4 boys (Madeleine, Anotre, Germaine, Lucienne, Marcelle & Raymond), and that they moved from Paris to Marseille sometime around 1900 - I know her husband (Eugene JeanJean) was born around 1860 in Metz - however I know no dates exactly except those of their daughter Madeleine who was my great grandmother and wrote this information down before her Death.

There's an Eugène Jeanjean born in Metz 25 August 1861, died in Noisy-le-Grand (Seine et Oise), i.e. near Paris 3 Novembre 1951.
Father : Eugene Jeanjean "infantenaire" (he was an infantry soldier), 30yo born in Metz Mother : Catherine Blaison, 30yo born in Vaux (Moselle), dressmaker

Seems 2 French genealogists at least worked on this Jeanjean-Blaison family.
First one gives the children and French descendants of Eugene Jeanjean and Pauline Marie Sonneville (your "Marie Somerville" real name), who was born in Estaires (North of France).
Good news & coincidence : I was born near Estaires, where I have some ancestors. I grew up in that area I know very well.
Here-attached the link to this family tree.

Here is the 2nd genealogist's tree. According to the Sosa numbers, it seems this person (Denise Tremeau) is a direct descendant of Eugene Jeanjean and Catherine Blaison (your Eugene's parents according to the birth cert I found out).

Henri Sonneville (Pauline Marie's father) died in Paris 5th arrondissement 1st Septembre 1887.
Here is the death cert :

Here is the FS link to Pauline's parents wedding cert.
After their wedding in Estaires 1869, they moved to Lille where we find several children births.

Finally, from her birth cert, I confirm Pauline Marie Sonneville was born in Estaires the 4th of June 1869. She was born "Grand Rue" (High Street) at her maternal grand-mother's house (widow Salomez-Delrue). Her father is a granting employee and her mother a tailor. She died in Noisy-le-Grand 28th December 1950.

Some additional generations on Pauline's maternal side:

wow thank you do much, iv been trying to power through with the name as written by my great grandmother when she was in her 90s so the writing was not always very sure, and because of that iv been hitting dead end after dead end, but you've saved me and made me supper excited to keep following this line.

You're more than welcome. Hope we find a connection in Estaires someday. Who knows?
Maybe would I suggest you engage with those 2 French genealogists. They might not answer you, notably if they are not English fluent, but who knows ? They might be very surprised discovering some overseas cousins and help you with the French side of descendants.

In any case, feel free to keep me updated.

In an old newspaper I use to search in, I found this article in 1843 about one of your relatives death. Basically it says a body has been found in the village of Steenwerck, and identified as Louis Sonneville, 25yo from Estaires. They guess he died from apoplexia stroke, from which he suffered for a long time. I enclose both the article and the death cert.

North Department archives indexes also mention (in 1652) Nicolas Sonneville, involved in a cabaret brawl.

Bonsoir @madeleinerosehaslett1 madeleinerosehaslett1
If the information you provided is correct, I believe I have found JEANJEAN Eugène's birth certificate in Metz. (attachment).
By initializing its file on the Famalial Genealogical Tree, I was able to find some interesting information here :

@Paul-Marc HEUDRE Thanks for double confirming (twice today) what I previously posted. 😏

Bonjour @madeleinerosehaslett1 madeleinerosehaslett1 ,
I see in your ancestry the surname SAINT MICHEL: the probability that we are cousins is important. 😃
In the northern region of France, the geographical cradle of the surname is located in Merville.
Saint-Michel is especially the name of the parish church of Merville
If you need any help on this region, don't hesitate to ask me because, from a genealogical point of view, I know the region like the "bottom of my pockets" 😏
I allowed myself to correct in the family tree the date of birth of Eugène JEANJEAN (August 5 instead of 6)
Best regards - Paul-Marc

@madeleinerosehaslett1 madeleinerosehaslett1 I understand @Paul-Marc HEUDRE wanna manage this research. Therefore, I leave him the floor with pleasure, according to his historic here. Despite what I had been told, it seems there is no need for additional help.

@fmgcaron fmgcaron ,
You should stop posting these kinds of posts, it's getting ridiculous! 😕

Happy to be "ridiculous". What I personally find ridiculous (and very frustrating as a newcomer here but not at all in genealogy after 28+ years) is having someone who felt the need to systematically repost, dual control & confirm my posts over the last 2 days all over this forum.
Very last post as far as I am concerned : enjoy the full floor, you succeeded in disgusting a voluntary newcomer, which would have made it possible to distribute the requests and efforts.
Have a nice Sunday & good luck for the future.

What I notice above all, with regret, is that as soon as you arrive you start to make fuss... it's not my fault, after all, if you especially have a disproportionate ego !
I already explained to you in a previous post :
https://community.familysearch.org/s/feed/0D54V00005FPLpxSAH
but it seems to me that you did not understand that I happened to have been down on my computer due to Windows 10 for 72 hours and was using my phone's email to continue participating anyway.
You shouldn't know that when you receive a publication notification by email and click on the [Reply] link, you do not see previous replies from other contributors, especially since they are relatively rare.
So to answer your question you asked me about the "monopoly" I am lightly thinking that the only monopoly that exists in this group is that of mutual aid. I'll be the first to regret that you feel like you're wasting your time because the most important thing is that whoever asks for help can get at least an answer. 😏

Bonsoir @madeleinerosehaslett1 madeleinerosehaslett1 ,
After having reassembled the SAINT-MICHEL branch of Merville, I am happy to confirm that we are indeed cousins.
So there it's a surprise! 😊
Our common ancestor is Jan SAINT-MICHEL
You descend from his son Nicolas and I from his daughter Maria Joanna
Nicolas probably died of the consequences of the epidemic of 1710 which was particularly virulent in the north of France due to the War of the Spanish Succession.
Best regards - Paul-Marc
