Printing problems - Family Search (Family Group Record) I am getting unusual characters, in random
I am getting unusual characters, in random locations, when I try to print a Family Group Record with LDS ordinances. (Have not tried printing without ordinances).
I saved the FGR in .pdf format to my desktop and then print.
Both times, different persons, different days, I have gotten the unusual characters that overwrite words.
How can I obtained a "clean" printed form with no unwanted characters?
Thank you!

@2008 rj
FYI
Just tried myself, with NO problems/issues (or, unusual characters).
Using, 'MicroSoft' "Windows 10" with, any of:
▬ 'Google' "Chrome"; or,
▬ 'Mozilla' "FireFox"; or,
▬ 'MicroSoft' "Edge"
Just in case, try "Clearing" the "Cookies"; "Cache'; "Download History"; etc ...
Probably will not make any difference ...
But, you never know, stranger things have happened ...

Using Macbook Pro
▬ OS Mozilla
▬ Mozilla/Firefox.
When I first printed the family group record with sources/notes (14 pages), the document had all types of weird characters, written over text.
After reading Brett's text, I tried again:
(1) Printing document from Family Search worked great;
(2) Saving document as .pdf and THEN printing is when weird characters are printed on document.
Thus, the problem is saving the family group record as .pdf and then trying to print.
I did notice that "pdf" appeared TWICE in name of document, but I saved using only ONE "pdf". What would cause the duplication of "pdf"? Any connection to the printing error?

When you say "printing from FamilySearch," I presume you're using the 'Print' function at the lower right column on a person page where you can either print "Family" or "Family with Sources." Those still download a .pdf copy to your computer, which then opens up in your .pdf reader program (Adobe Reader?). You can either print direct from that downloaded .pdf document that shows up, or you can save it as a .pdf and print later. It may be that the .pdf reader program is corrupted somehow, and not saving the downloaded documents properly.
I'd suggest deleting your Adobe Reader (or whatever you're using to view .pdf documents), and reinstall the program.
The other issue MAY be an old problem that happened with Firefox on Windows, at least, but it's been at least a year since I experienced it and found a fix for it within Firefox. Open the "General" tab in Firefox "Options" and scroll down to the "Applications" window. There you'll find the various programs that could be opened with Firefox. Scroll down to Portable Document Function and see what's listed for that. If it's "Open in Firefox," change it to open in whatever program you have as your default program in your operating system (such as Adobe Reader). That turned out to be the fix to a similar problem I had when downloading .PDF documents using Firefox. For some reason, Firefox wasn't playing nice with .pdf documents, but I presumed they would have fixed that by now. It's still worth a check.

Chris: Your suggestion FIXED the problem! Thank you!
I am running Firefox in Apple/Mac and went to Firefox "Preferences" (instead of "General" tab).
Also, this time "pdf" did not appear twice in offered document title.
Document looks great!
