Are birth records for Veneto Region available online?
Hello,
I'm looking for a birth record of Antonio Cavali (Cavalli), born Apr 17, 1878 in Fara d’Alpago, Belluno, Veneto to find our the names of his parents.
He is my husband's maternal grandfather who emigrated to Pakrac, Croatia, and married Giacoba Bartoluzzi (born in the same area) in 1910.
Thank you!

Here is info from FamilySearch Wiki for that area.
https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Belluno,_Veneto,_Italy_Genealogy
I attached his birth record I found on Ancestry.com
The picture is a bit blurry so I am not certain of parents names. Maybe someone who knows Italian better than me can figure it out.
More records for that area are found here on the Antenati archive webite.

Here is how I handle this. It's a little cumbersome, but you can get the jest of what is being said and then you can read other docs. I do a screen print of the page, past it into the PAINT program on my PC and there is a place where you can enlarge or use the little microscope. I hand type the words I don't know into DeepL Translate. I was able to find the correct spelling of my great grandmother on a death record of her deceased child.

Thank you for the tip.

The post-1874 Italian records are all on pre-printed forms. Family Search has several items to help you understand the contents; once you have experience understanding the layout of the form it's often not necessary to read Italian to get the key facts.
- https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Italy_Civil_Registration has translation templates
- https://www.familysearch.org/blog/en/italianindexing/ has templates with maps to where the key information is located.

BTW I was looking at this record and Antonio's 1897 marriage record in Pakrac the other day for someone else in a Facebook Italian research group.

@JPlesa JPlesa
Recod date: 17 April 1878
Oswaldo Calvi, age 25, reported the birth of a male child on the 17th of the current month to Catterina Peterle, daughter of the deceased Antonio, his wife. The child was given the name of Antonio.
Margin note says he married Cordulia? Rech in Parech record # 79 on 2 November 1902

Awesome, Thank you so very much @Cousin Vinny - I have located this marriage record on FS, but having a copy of the document adds a special flavour to my research - Thank you!
P.s. Are you presently in Pakrac when you have access to church books?

It is wonderful to be surrounded by great people, even virtually! - Thank you both!
While reviewing that collection, have you, by any chance, seen another marriage record for my Antonio? He was married 2nd time in Pakrac with Giacoba Bartoluzzi, April 6, 1910. One of the daughters from this marriage is my husband's maternal grandmother born Oct 31, 1919 in Pakrac.

Are all these records online?

These records were online because they were provided to the Italian government so the marriage could be recorded in Italy. The records were put in the supporting documents (allegati) file for the marriage. I have no idea about the whether the originals are online.

The latest the Farra d'Alpago records go for marriages is 1911 and this marriage is not listed there. 1910 records are missing. Since the previous 1897 marriage was not recorded in Italy until 1901 I would imagine it was not recorded in Italy (if at all) until 1912 or 1913.

@Cousin Vinny When you have time, would you please verify if there is a marriage record for Antonio's father Oswaldo Calvi, born 1853 (based on the info from Antonio's birth record), married to Catterina Adora Eufrosina, born circa 1852 (based on her death record from Pakrac, Croatia); both of them should be from Farra d'Alpago, Belluno. That would help me to confirm birth date and parents for both of them. Thank you in advance, Jelena
