Trying to find out more about a woman named Joanna Jenkins who was shown on the 1861 Wales Census li
Joanna Jenkins is listed as "mother" of Hopkin Jenkins (born about 1809 in Llangyfelach) in 1861. She is 84 years old, meaning she could have been born about 1777. Her birth place is listed as Swansea. I believe she died in 1862, since I found a death registration for Joanna Jenkins in the Mar quarter of 1862 in the Swansea District. I've looked for Joanna and any derivatives that come up but I can't find anyone who appears to fit these perameters. I've tried parish records, and non-conformist listings on FindMyPast but nothing is coming up that fits. I'm trying to find out information for her and hopefully a husband because I don't think her son is connected to the correct family on FamilyTree. There is no Joanna, Jane, Joan listed as his mother. Can any of you give suggestions that might lead me a different way?

Questions:
- Is "JENKINS" her, "Maiden" (ie. Birth) 'Family Name'/'Surname'; or, "Married" 'Family Name'/'Surname'.
- What is her son's full name?
- Was her son born during/after 1837 (ie. Civil Registration)?
- Is she and her son in 'Family Tree' of 'FamilySearch' (ie. Details)?
Some of the answers to those questions may be better enable us, to help you.

I'm guessing Jenkins is her married name. Her son, whose name seems to be just Hopkin Jenkin(s) was born about 1809, well before the civil registration started. The 1851 census shows his birthplace as Llangyfelach. The 1861 census showing Joanna lists her birth place as Swansea.

In Claudia Frews tree on Ancestry.com. The following information - Juanna Jenkin 1775 to 1862 married a Hopkin Jenkin b.1780 at Dudston, Cornwall. They married on the 7th February, 1808 at Swansea. Their children are recorded as Hopkin Jenkin 1808-1881 John Jenkin 1809-1881 William b. 1810 and Jane b.1820.

Now that you've brought it to my attention, I actually did look at that marriage register already. I remember both being listed as widow/er. And I wondered if her name of Davies was her 1st husband's name or if that was her own maiden name. It is absolutely a logical connection for the parents of Hopkin Jenkin, born about 1809. Thank you for your time and willingness to help me out. JoLynn

Susan, how did you find Claudia Frews tree on Ancestry? I put in Juanna's name that way on Ancestry and nothing popped up. The reason I even started looking at Hopkin Jenkin (born 1809) was because there was a census source on FamilyTree for that Hopkin and Ann Jenkin--Ann being my relative. On FamilyTree, the Ann Jenkin was listed as Ann Evan (maiden name). However, when I started looking at the details for family members on the census record, I concluded Ann Evan was not the one that belonged with Hopkin's family according to the census. I eventually figured out that Ann Aubrey had married the Hopkin Jenkin listed in this census record because all of the children after 1837 had a version of Aubrey listed for the mother's maiden name.
Now I'd like to get the right parents for Hopkin Jenkin, which are not the ones he's connected to on FamilyTree.
