Regarding ...
.
James DEMPERSTON ... [ K4LK-CZ9 ]
Birth, February 1632 & Christening 17 February 1632, Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland - Deceased
.
Just surmising here ...
.
That is a very OLD record pre.2012 in "New.FamilySearch" or beyond ...
.
Take a look at the "Notes"
.
.
That indicates that his record was also 'concocted' from, a PAF File; and/or, even, a GEDCOM File.
.
As such ...
.
As that "National Identification" record is also a pre.2012 in "New.FamilySearch" or beyond ...
.
.
Perhaps that 'reference' to a "National Identification" of "J7042" is ... is ALSO something to do with a PAF File or some other personal "Genealogical" database ... rather than actually a "National Identification" number.
.
And ...
.
Way 'out of left field' here ...
.
What about a "Admiralty" (ie. Naval) service number?
.
Just some thoughts ...

Thanks Anne but the person in question was born 1632 ,the link you posted is a modern day idea and I do not think anything to do with what has been added into family search by a member .

Ah, didn't catch that. Sorry! Perhaps someone in the @Scotland Genealogy Research group could answer this question?

Certainly there was no official identity number at that date! It's likely to be a number for the record in another database, possibly another website or the contributors software package.
