When I add a document to memories, when I put a name in the "Who is in this memory?" field, it will

@David Mark LaBau My recent experience with this feature is if I haven't tagged that ancestor in a memory yet, it is easier to tag them in that section (who is in this memory) when I input their FS ID. Have you tried that yet?

i have the same issue sometimes, and @Amber Marstella Rothamer makes a great point😊 However, I can’t ever remember those numbers, I can remember the names I need to add but those numbers are not something that I can or will ever remember; I don’t understand how or why the system will sometimes recognize the name and other times it forces you to look up the number - even if you’ve been working on the name and adding records etc all along, the system Suddenly won’t allow you to use the name in some fields —- I don’t get it? There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it...having to search for those numbers is just another one of those added steps that is completely unnecessary and a complete waste of valuable time.

@X24mom X24mom I can't ever remember the number either. Usually when I'm working on family history, I have one tab on my laptop or device entirely devoted to the tree so I can just copy the ID and paste it in the field to tag that ancestor in memories. The best times when the IDs prove valuable is if I am working on an extended tree branch... someone not in my direct line. If I have to pause my efforts, I quickly jot down their ID number so that when I have time to work again, all I have to do is enter the ID number and it takes me right to the person I was working on. This helps me, since family names are used constantly in my tree and many people have similar if not the same name, so I can easily find the right person again. Or, especially with those distant relations, I don't always remember exactly which line of which branch they are in, so the ID helps me a lot.
Once I've used that ID in memories the first time though, I can easily tag that person by name.

i remember someone’s else saying aoemrhing like that too... but I’m constantly on the go and do almost everything genealogy related during little breaks here and there and do pretty much EVERYTHING using my iPhone (cause it’s always in my pocket and convenient lol) also I skip around a lot and I’m rarely concentrated on one particular individual lol... so I don’t ever think about writing the numbers down and honestly if I did id probably Be able to find it on Fs faster than I could on one of my many lists lol ... yup I’m extremely disorganized 🤣 thank you for the great ideas!

LOL. We all have our own flow. No judgement here. 💚 I think you are a great researcher and I've learned a lot from you in the time that I've known you here in the Community. I think you do just fine.
