My name is Dennis J Yancey.
I live in Miami, Florida.
I am not a Nuckolls family descendant -

I'm Janet Harder.
I live in Otoe county Nebraska.
My ancestor, Robert Brown Rundall, was a young man living near Nebraska City during the time that Stephen F Nuckolls was there. I've gone to the state historical society library and handled and photographed family documents, as well as gone to Atchison county MO, and photographed probate files. I'm a big fan of finding as many sources as possible to help build the most complete picture of the lives of those in the past.
My focus of interest is in tracking descendants of the enslaved of Atchison county, as the closest slave county to me. I was quite surprised to find so many connections between Atchison county and Otoe county, but I suppose it is natural, with the river. Part of the methodology of tracking slave descendants is to also extensively track and document the families of those who held slaves, because family members may unwittingly still have documents that could help the bust brick walls for the enslaved. One of the documents in the Nuckolls archive at the NE State historical society lists the names, exact dates, and most often, the time of day that each slave was born. This is exceedingly valuable, and the type of record many African-American descendants would hope to find.
I am not, to my knowledge, related to the Nuckolls family, however, I have some Virginia ancestors, and roots that go back to Colonial days, so I wouldn't be surprised to discover some connections.
I am not working for anyone, just trying to use my 40 yrs of genealogical experience for some lasting good. My hope is to one day facilitate connections between various descendants.
I'm pleased to see this group. I didn't even know it was possible in Family Search.

Hello, my name is Mike Nuckolls. I love in the St. Louis area. I am not a paternal line Nuckolls, I received the Nuckolls name from my grandmother. My father was born out of wedlock. My line comes from the three brothers who lived in Jamestown in the 1650's as I'm assuming everyone else does. They are responsible for nearly all of the Nuckolls' in the US. I come from the James' through Tennessee and Kentucky into Missouri and Illinois. William the Patriot was an uncle. And one of my most celebrated ancestors was Caswell Nuckolls of Tennessee and Kentucky.
