I would like to please ask for help understanding the names of my 9th ggrandfather, Pieter Tjarxsz,
Robert Seal, from the German community, has been very helpful with finding the Dutch birth records for my 9th ggrandfather, Pieter Tjarxsz's family. But, now he suggested that I now turn to your community to ask for additional help with the surnames. On the church records for his children, Davit b. 1636, the father is listed as Pieter Harxsz; for Pieter b. 1634 & Maritje b. 1630 the father is listed as Pieter Tjarxsz; for the oldest son Philip b. 1628, the father is listed as Pieter Jansz. What happened to the Tjarxsz, which means that he would be the son of Tjarx, correct or now is Pieter the son of Jan?
I was surprised to see that his father's name was Pieter Jansz instead of Pieter Harxsz or Tjarxsz but with the same Mother, Geertruit . With the father's name listed as Tjerck Jansz I had previously found a posting that said this from a Heidi Kneip back in 2015, and this is where we are confused trying to figure out the father for Pieter and hopefuilly Philip's church record has helped solve that. Please read & see what you think is correct - " I have been told that:*Pieter Tjercks was the son of Tjercks Jansz (Jannson). Tjercks was b: 1577 and went to Amsterdam in 1607. Tjercks married Styntie Doudes (born in Emden, Germany).*Tjercks & Styntie had Pieter 1603 and Stijntie 1601.*Stijntie married 1625 Dominicus Mattijsse Heringa (a cabinet maker) and died in 1634 giving birth to twins.*Pieter Tjercks married Geertruyt Van Schuyler (1603-1651). They had Philip Pieterse 1628-1683, Maritgen 1630, Pieter 1634 & David 1636-1698. All children were born in Amsterdam. Philip & David ended up in NY. Name: Tjerck JANSZ Sex: M Birth: 1577 Death: in Amsterdam, Holland**Marriage 1 Styntie DOUDES b: in Emden, Germany Married: 1599 Children Peter TJERCKS b: 1601 in Emden, Germany Pieter and Geertruy, of old Dutch descent..."
Also, this is another post -
SOURCE: "Friends of the Schuyler Mansion" - 32 Catherine Street, Albany, New York 12202
"Tjerck (Frisian version of Dirck) Jansz, b. 1577; m. ca. 1599, Styntie Doudes (b. ca. ), of Emden, an international free city, under Dutch protection (County of East Friesland, now Hanover, part of Germany). Moved to Amsterdam, 1606. Clothworker, he had apprenticed with Dirck Dircksz van Swynern, at Emden, ca. 1595.

Once in New York, David & Philip's names took on their Mother's last name David Pieterse Schuyler
& Philip Pieterse Schuyler, was that because their Mother had a more prominent maiden name? Her name was Gertryt Phillipse Van Schuylder, her father Phillip Van Schuylder. Why did she need both names of Phillipse and Van Schuylder in Amsterdam, she and Pieter did not come to New York? I am very grateful for help in understanding about their names and hopefully this will lead to finding the church records for the birth of Pieter Tjarxsz in Germany & records for his parents. This is quite an exciting adventure to prove all their information! Thank you!

I have to side with the remarks made by A Van Helsdingen. Janszoon and Jansz
are used in an intermittant way with names and patronyms.., i tried to find more for you , or to find some clarity, but to no gain.
Maybe it could be interesting to find some site's dedicated to the names above, and the derivatives that came off them.
Sometimes it is beneficial to make your search strings longer..
