This is the marriage record of Luigi Iovino & Concetta Ardolina. It immediately strikes me as odd that both the bride and groom state their father is unknown. Each seem to be taking on the last name of their mothers. I'm seeking translation help on the notes at the bottom of the record. I was able to find the birth record for Luigi from the notes but would like help on the key dates and other information about the parent(s). Thank you in advance for any help

    @Pierluigi_O @SantaNinfa

    I wanted to thank both of you for your help in the translation of the notes and links to the birth records. Unfortunately regarding the death of the brides mother, Lucia Ardolino, the death year of 1875 is not available in Nola, Just my luck.

    I'm sorry about the link mistake, I'm not sure what I did wrong.

    I'm curious as to what you thought about both bride & groom both saying father unknown?

    Thank you both again for your help!

    @Harleynut97 your URL contained an encoded character which changed the unsafe ASCII character "_" to "%5F". While web browsers will automatically encode URLs when retrieving a web page, if you enter an already encoded URL into the address bar the browser will try to encode the encoded character, and you wind up with a bad URL. But in your case I don't know how that would have happened unless you copied and pasted the link from multiple sources because the characters "/" and ":" are also unsafe ASCII characters that need to be encoded. If the URL was fully encoded it would have looked like this:

    https%3A%2F%2Fantenati.cultura.gov.it%2Fark%3A%2F12657%2Fan%5Fua36150884%2FLmgm94R

    Regarding the unknown fathers: look at the birth records - both children were illegitimate and had the surnames of their mothers. In each case the mother of the child presented the baby for registration; in the groom's case the father is not listed and in the bride's case the mother specifically said the father did not want to be named.

    In the bride's case, at least, it may be that the parents had a church marriage but not a civil marriage as church marriages were not recognized for legal purposes in Italy from 1866 until 1929.

    @Cousin Vinny Thank you for your thoughts on the bride's and groom's fathers. I wish I could read more Italian. I can usually figure out dates and ages, but I struggle a lot on margin notes ect.

    I've normally found the record in Antenati, highlight the browser address bar and ctl C , and then ctl V into the box where I am typing the question to the group. Is there a different way I should post a link. I use Windows and Firefox as browser

    That should work but you should double-check the validity of the link by reloading the page with the image before copying the URL
