GEDCOM used to upload CET
It sounds like to me that if the CET (whatever they end up being called) are popular, that FamilySearch will see an increase in the number of GEDCOM uploads. As you might know, I am a member of the ongoing GEDCOM Steering committee and it has been a couple of years now since we released GEDCOM 7.0. After the release we began working on GEDCOM 7.1 and also a potential 8.0. All this is in the openly online available GEDCOM.io website. GEDCOM 7.0 has been adopted by quite a number of developers and I am wondering why FamilySearch has not adopted GEDCOM 7.0? Just some thoughts.

James, I know of only one software product that allows a user to export a Gedcom 7 file (Synium's MacFamilyTree). If I am in error please let me know. The reason we have not yet delivered Ged7 support is two-fold.
1) Few, if any, Ged7 files are being uploaded by users either to our new system nor to the PRF in Genealogies.2) We need to build the core system first as the highest priority and there are currently limited engineering resources and many essential features being worked on (such as those I announced recently).
I can report that the current upload actually ingested a Ged7 formatted file pretty well in testing. It will not yet support most of the new features of Ged7 like rich media, templates, etc. We do intend to fully support the new format and have this work on our prioritized list of future features.0 -
Thanks for your comment, I completely understand your concerns and position. No problem from me.
James
