M6DQ-V5H Olavus "Oliver" Torstensen Ramberg b. in Norway, died which date, in Canada?
Hi, I might do some work for my 2nd great grandfather, "Oliver" Ramberg, born in Kongsberg, Norway (1 hour car drive south-west of Oslo, capital) . He must have changed his name to Oliver when going to North America in the 1800s, as that was easier to the english language. His grandfather Halsteen LR79-CPY on his dads side was a mine worker in the silver mines of Kongsberg, who was sent to prison in Oslo in about 1807 because of theft of bread in Kongsberg.
I think the year of death of Oliver Ramberg 1902, was something that is written on Ancestry…somewhere.
I was wondering where to search, is there any Canadian digital record library that could contain the source of the date of death and burial.
It states that he lived in Ontario in 1891, (census.)
Many thanks in advance for any advice on this. Øyvind Rikheim Kofstad (41), Oslo/Norway.

On FamilySearch, there is a record set for Ontario Deaths: https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/1307826, but I did not find Oliver/Olavus Ramberg on a quick look.
A quick check on Ancestry lists a few TREES with an approximate year of death of 1902, in Canada, for Olavus. I suggest that you contact the creator(s) of those trees to see if they have any additional information. There are some 50+ trees for him there. One of them has him living in Québec in 1901.
Best of luck with the search.

The records in Ancestry.com and FamilySearch have multiple wives for Oliver. I question whether they are all the same person. His birth date in 1820 seems quite definite and consistent.
I found Oliver Ramberg, father of John H Ramberg, in the 1901 census, matching the 1820 birthday, living with his son, in Huntley, Ontario. I also find him in 1881 and 1891 in Huntley, in 1881 he is with his wife, and children John and Dina. In those, his birth is estimated at 1824. I do not find any mention of him in Quebec. There is a gap in LaFrance records for the period in which he may have died. Often there are headstones or findagrave-type records, but I did not spot any for him (that is not conclusive at all). There are varying records about when he immigrated. The marriage record for Oliver (widower) and Mary Ann Corcoran in 1869 lists his age as 45, which does not correspond with the 1820 birth date.
Huntley Ontario (or the region) might have cemetery records. I could not find Oliver searching online but that is not conclusive. In searching, be sure you have the right person by focusing on his relationship to people you absolutely know you are related to - like his son John, if you are linked to him.
Just my thoughts.

Many thanks for comments and feedback on this.
I ll use your info to do more research.
Jenny Borgen GXZX-PCP was married to Olivers grand-son, Erling Kofstad. (my grandparents on my fathers side). Jenny has written several letters and scripts, about family, also some of her husbands side, and she mentiones "Ramberg" in a few sentences… "Ramberg, married, 4 times".
It seemes not very realistic to me either that he had so many wifes, but it could be. And also that Jenny missed 1 or 2 of the last wifes at the American continent.
