For new pages, birth and death dates and places are copied from christening and burial records
When creating a person during linking, the New Linker doesn't include the Christening and Burial fields like the current functional linker that's being replaced.
Instead, the dates and locations from the Christening or Burial get entered by default into the Birth or Death fields. Please don't do that. These things aren't synonyms and we need to be discouraging people from thinking they're interchangeable, not actively treating them as if they were.

Thank-you This is good to know and I did not notice that change. Although I don't have many christening dates. I will want to go back and check my records.

It appears to be more subtly stupid than suggested.
At first I didn't see any issue because this is what I saw...
Notice that the christening from the Parish Register is going to be attached as a Christening.
However, when I clicked on Edwin's name at this stage to bring up a profile card, then like @RTorchia's 1st screen shot - even though this is an update - it showed the Christening date going into the birth. But... It lied to me... When I attach that source, with that value, it ends up in the correct place - the Christening.
So eventually, in this combination of events, it's OK - but the intermediate profile card was nonsensical.
PS - I have been trying to repeat the intermediate nonsense and failed so far to find the right combination.
