Hello Maria, THANK YOU for the translation of Elena Sawicka's death certificate and also for the birth record translation. The Sawicki/Sawicka lines are from my husband's ancestry; I don't believe any of them knew about this child. The note in the margin of the birth record is also very interesting. John's aunt turns 97 on Friday; I will put this information into the mail to her today and will be interested to her her comments. Thank you again; your help is very much appreciated!

Birth Record No. 195, Knyszyn Parish, of Elena Sawicka, born in Knyszyn on the 8th (or 18th) July 1902, christened on the 14th July 1902, daughter of a town dweller, Aleksander and Rozalia, born Ostrowska, married couple Sawicki. Godparents: Hipolit Ivanowski and Jadwiga Niedzwiecka.
Lorraine,
Please note that in the columns before the text it is written that the birth was on the 8th July 1902, but in the 2nd column of text there is a date as 18th July of the same year. It was most likely birth on the 8th July 1902, and baptism on the 14th and it was an oversight of the recorder.
Thinking about the note on the margin of the previous birth record of Elena Sawicka born 1901, which stated only “she was married…” without the name, it could not refer to this first Elena Sawicka, as she died that year, and it was not marriage of Rozalia, born Ostrowska, but probably referred to this Elena Sawicka, born in year 1902. She would have been about 23 years old when she got married. The recorder probably wrote the date of marriage for the wrong Elena Sawicka, as it is not usual to write the second marriage of the mother of the child, on the birth record of her child. Please accept my apologies.

Hello Maria,
Thank you again for another record translation. I sincerely appreciate you!
When I saw the note about Rozalia Sawicka born Ostrowska marrying Franciszek Gerej, it didn't sound right to me. I checked my tree and found that I have a "Helen Sawicka" who married Franciszek Gerej. I didn't have a birth date but we now know that it couldn't have been the "Elena Sawicka" who was born and died in 1901. I am sure it was the second "Elena" born in 1902. I also didn't have a marriage date, so the note in the margin gave me information which I didn't have. The original tree chart that I started with was put together by one of my husband's cousins years ago. "Helen" may have been an Americanized version of "Elena."
Now that we have proof of two children named "Elena", I am going to correct the tree.
