Family Group page is confusing
On the Family Group Details page, the colored images lower down, distract from the work buttons along the top. These colored buttons draw your eyes because they are colored while the rest of the page is pretty much white.
Also, when I first saw the label 'Explore the Group Family Tree' I clicked on it, thinking that it would take me to the tree itself. It didn't. Could we make the action buttons the most colorful? You've got a ton of space in the top bar, next to the group profile image.
So, great, the activities pop-ups give me some ideas of things to do...but nothing was clickable, so I couldn't go do any of those things. I have to close the pop-up, figure out where on the page to click to get to the tree or temple reservations or chat or whatever. Then I have to remember what I wanted to do from the list and figure out how to do it. Is there any way to make the ideas clickable so they take you either
- to a Knowledge Article in the Help pop-up (so the instructions stay visible so you can follow them on-screen)
- or take you directly to the area of FamilySearch that you can do that particular task?
I disagree with the sorting of the tasks listed. Temple reservations, either sharing or reserving are not 'exploring' the Group Family Tree. Neither are inviting family members to the group or using the group chat. Those are all tasks related to Explore the Family Group.
Sharing reservations is also not telling your family's story. And should we be advertising uploading birth certificates etc. when Memories hasn't created the safe middle ground for them yet?
Improve the Group Family Tree doesn't reduce duplication because you are duplicating when you 'copy information from your private list'...although you can reduce the duplication within that single tree. I thought the Private List has been renamed to the Person List? And copy information sounds like you can copy pieces of information from individual records in your person list into the individual record in the Family Group Tree. But actually, we can't copy pieces of information, only the individual's whole profile, right?
Lastly, Family Group Tree or Group Family Tree? They are called Family Groups, so it would make sense to stick with Family Group Tree. Especially, since we now have RootsTech Groups & Attendee Created Groups in Chat and Research Groups in Community. People are getting confused by all the different types of groups.

I totally agree!
The suggested activity buttons are just wasted space to me, because they don't lead me to anything. I like the idea of colored buttons on the top half of the page, but make them the buttons that are used most often. Maybe it would be good to make the buttons moveable (like on the church home page) so group members can put their own most-used buttons at the top. It's going to be different for everyone.
Anne, your statements on sorting of tasks in the Suggested Activities are right on. They don't make sense to me. Now that I've looked at them once, I won't use them again. If you do want lists I don't think it's helpful to make them so long. So 3-4 maximum activities for each button, and make them clickable.
