Can anyone read this language from Greek Catholic church in Malcov, Saros, Hungary (now Slovakia)? My ancestor, Joannes Cingel (Czingely) was born about 1794, based on his death record 12 Mar 1859 in Malcov. Need the date and his parent's names. Thanks.

This link starts with year 1793: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-D15S-HWX?i=31&wc=9PQ4-MNP%3A107654201%2C107654202%2C108008301%2C950164201&cc=1554443

    He was Rusyn.

It was written mixed latin and cyrillik letters. Date (first column) is latin than I sometimes read "Anno" (In) is latin sometimes cyrill, than they always change to cyrill letters.

I think you should search Иван - Joannes Цингел - Cingel

    Good luck.

BR Tamas who also had a Ruthenian ancestors

    Hi Janet,

Yes, it looks Cyrillic - likely Ruthenian. I looked up until 1796, but did not find anything. In the screenshot below, I’ve highlighted what the names (I think) should look like. The first Ионка/Янко could be a variation of Joannes. The second thing I highlighted is what I think the surname will look like which closely matches Tamas’s suggestion. I don’t know if you want to try looking through it again, or if you want me try some more - casting a wider net. Let me know what you think :) here is the screenshot and a link to the page it is from. 0B6E3D1E-EC0F-40BF-8848-E3CA74AFD6FC

I actually had another ancestor who was identified on the church register as Ruthenian and her husband as Greek Catholic, but it was written in Latin and Hungarian, so easier to translate. Cyrillic looks pretty challenging! Are you recommending the Russian Empire Genealogy to be a better resource for my ancestors from this particular region of Slovakia - Saros county?
