Have you looked at the FamilySearch Wiki page for Italy Civil Registration? You can also look at a specific region by clicking on either the list or the map under Jurisdictions in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy Genealogy page. Italy Online Genealogy Records has a link to the Civil Registration Records, Italian National Archives. Hope that helps you get started

Hi Larry -
In addition to the advice just given by Maile, it would be best if you could provide specific towns or provinces within the region you mentioned since the availability of records varies greatly from one town to the next. Then, a more detailed response may be provided.

Hi everyone, thanks for the responses. I would be looking for records from the towns of Prata di Pordenone, Brugnera and Pasiano mainly, within the province of Pordenone.
I also have some ancestors from the town of Mansue in the neighboring region of Veneto, province of Treviso.
I have heard that Italy has a 110-year privacy law on records. If that is true, then I'll need to wait until 2031 for the next 10-year group of records to be released?
Most of what I have found is through the scanned images of birth, marriage and death records on this site. It's been quite good, with the boundaries being 1871 (when civil registration started) and 1911 (seems to correlate with the 110-year privacy law). Other sources have been spotty.
