Translation Help
In the attached Family Book record, I can't make out what Peter Engst's occupation is. He is a "Bauer und ?" Also, what's the word after "kathol."? And what does it say under the date of his death?

I believe Peter's occupation is Karpfenwirth (Karpfen = carp, wirth = innkeeper), which probably means that he was the proprietor of an inn with the sign of a fish (carp).
The word after kathol. is "confession".
The phrase under his date of death looks to be "Protasius Koch". Saint Protasius was an early Christiay martyr. I suspect that this is just a person's name, but have no idea why it is included. Usually when a line separates sections of a family book record, it indicates a second marriage. However, it is odd that there is no other identifying information. Is it possible that remarried after Peter died?

@Stan Deutsch You don't mention the location (which should be given with all requests) - I am just assuming somewhere in Germany.
In Swiss family books often other people living in the household (like servants) would be mentioned this way.

@WSeelentag My apologies - yes, the location is Germany. Peter Engst was born in Huldstetten in Württemberg and I believe he lived and died in Ulm.
@bobgreiner1 I don't know if Peter's wife Regina Margarethe remarried after Peter's death. It looks to me like she died in April (?) 1870 in Ulm but there's a note under her death date that I can't quite make out either that seems to say Aug N 87 (?).

As mentioned already, I don't think Protasius Koch was a second husband - he likely was just living in the same household: as Peter Engst was an innkeeper, Protasius Koch was likely helping in the inn and living in the same house.
Re Regina Margaretha's death date: it reads April 1870 - but is that crossed out? The note below I read as "l. St. Anz. N. 87 …" - possibly "laut Standesamts-Anzeige Nr. 87" (according to the notification from the civil registry office). Can't read the final word/abbreviation - and find it surprising that no exact date is given. Could "St." Stand for "Sterbe…" instead of "Standesamt…"?

@Stan Deutsch Do you have the marriage record for Peter and Regina? It is here in the records of St. Michael zu den Wengen Catholic church in Ulm. Unfortunately they don't seem to have death records through 1870.

@bobgreiner1 Thanks! I did not have this. Much appreciated. And if I read this correctly, Peter was a Schankwirth = barkeeper, which I think is similar to the "Karpfenwirth" in the later record.

@Stan Deutsch The family book record for Peter Engst is indeed among the records of Huldstetten. It is image #442 in that file. You will note that on the line with his father's name is a reference to see page 24. In the same family book on image #377 is the record for his father Antonious (Anton) Engst. There I see that Anton had two wives and 22! children (18 + 3). Peter was #12.

@bobgreiner1 Thanks again! I didn't know that the note next to Antonius' name indicated that he was listed on anther page. I will have to grab a copy when I'm in the FamilySearch Library next week since I'm missing two of the children from the second marriage; I only have Leonhard. It's hard to imagine having that many children! Antonius' son Anton came close with 17 children, one of whom was my brother-in-law's great-grandmother Maria (I'm researching the Engsts for him).
