@Olivia Jewell As a stake temple and family history consultant, I have the opportunity to chat with our wards and branches about their unit plans and about coordination meetings. Here are things units have done in my stake that have been successful:
The ward or branch plan was created by the ward or branch council. This feels important. When the unit council is involved in the plan creation, they feel ownership of the plan and more desire to help it succeed.
The plan is simple. One branch's plan is only one sentence: "Members of the branch temple and family history committee will meet with one member or family each month to help them move forward on their temple and family history work." One clearly defined goal that they are meeting with suggestions from the branch council. Overly complicated and vague plans tend to go nowhere.
Meetings are held at a regularly scheduled time and place. Having it on a calendar helps it happen.
Meetings are usually brief. They report on what they are doing or plan to do. They talk about obstacles and how to overcome them. The leader assignments to the consultants from the unit council. Occasionally consultants have questions or concerns that require a longer meeting. Sometimes they invite me to join their meeting to help them find answers and solutions.
