When doing hints on a German person how do you enter german letters not in the English alphabet?

This is an excellent question. If you have a PC you can use the Alt-key and the number keypad on the right side of the keyboard to make German letters.

See Secton 3, Diacritic Marks. This section will explain how to make the various German letters not included in the English alphabet.
One important tip: Be sure the number lock is on for the number keypad on the right.
Example:
To make ü: Hold the Alt key down and type 129 on the number keypad then release the Alt-key and the German letter ü will appear.

For those with a Mac just hold down the letter you want to modify and a small window will pop up giving you various choices. Click on the diacritical mark you want and voila. Kent
