Know Anything About Royal Taufzeuge for Seventh Son?
I came across this list of taufzeugen and can't get over my surprise regarding #10:
Am I reading this correctly? Was there a tradition for the king of Prussia to be a taufzeuge for a seventh son? I'm supposing this was a hands-off rather than intimate relationship for the infant throughout his life.
If anyone knows more about this or has a resource for reading, etc, please let me know. I'd love to learn more!

Yes, this was a way to raise the birth rate and especially male offspring who could later become soldiers for the sovereign's armies. Here is a webpage (in German) that describes the history and how it continues into modern times: https://www.gv-bedburg-hau.de/sieben-soehne.html
In fact even today the President of the Federal Republic of Germany assumes honorary sponsorship for the seventh child (not just boys!) of a family, but only at the request of the parents: http://www.dorsten-lexikon.de/ehrenpatenschaften/
