Hi @PABulfinch
Since noone else has replied I will attempt to help you :-
Please note the name is Höfer, not Hofer! There are some bits I can't quite make out, perhaps someone else can read it better than I can?
The document appears to be a christening record
In the year 1856 Christening name of the child:
No.131 Höfer, Carl Eduard
Christian- and surname; also occupation and residence or trade of the father:
son of Carl Heinrich Höfer, Master, citizen and Tuchscherer (basically a person whose job was to cut woven fabric)
Christian- and former surname of the mother:
(Mrs) Amalie nee ?Eichre (sorry this is unclear to me) from Neustadt an der Orla
Day and hour of the birth:
Sunday, the 16th (sixteenth) November, at 11:30 PM
Day of the christening:
Sunday, the 16th (sixteenth) November by (Mr) Archid Meinke (this seems odd, since the baby was born almost at midnight)
Names of the godparents:
1) Meister Gottlieb Fuchs, here (i.e he lived in whatever place the christening record came from)
2) Frau Wilhelmine, wife of Ferdinand Trompler(?) (can't make out the description) here (as above)
3) Meister Eduard Schrauder? , citizen and Tuchmacher here (a type of clothmaker) ( unclear words) here
Hope this is useful

Day of the christening:
Sunday, the 16th (sixteenth) November by (Mr) Archid Meinke (Manke?) (this seems odd, since the baby was born almost at midnight)
Names of the godparents:
1) Meister Gottlieb Fuchs, tenant of the Herrnmühle here (i.e he lived in whatever place the christening record came from)
2) Frau Wilhelmine, wife of Ferdinand Trompler(?) Fürstl[icher] Stallfourier (princely stable forager?) here (as above)
