would 'mahl=müller' be a painter-miller?
1753 birth record in the Pfalz that notes father of witness as former 'mahl=müller' (or mülleren?): would this be a painter-miller?
Also, I am reading witness surnames as Porster and Kehrt: Kehrt I have found other records for in the same area/period and shows up on the geogen site. Porster doesn't show up on geogen, but does show up as a spelling in some other records.

A Mahlmüller was a miller who just grinds grain. Mahl- comes from mahlen = to grind or to mill. There were different other types of mills, like sawmills, oilmills or maltmills.
