Where is Engelbrechtswinkl? - still asking
1805 marriage of Joseph Mayrhofer and Barbara Prieler in catholic parish of Margarethenried, Freising, Bavaria. Last entry. See better quality image via this link. The bride was currently living in and was born in "Engelbrechtswinkl." This does not seem to be an official name of a place, or at least I have not been able to find it yet. In looking at the map/MeyersGaz I saw an outlaying farm nearby named Winklman. Could there be a possibility that the place name is more a descriptor, e.g. Engelbrecht's Winkl, or is that too far of a stretch? Any suggestions on figuring out where the bride was born would be great. Thanks.

@Gina Palmer There is an Engelbrechtsmünster in Bavaria, and I also think that "Winkl" ("Winkel") is a more of a descriptor of the exact place/angle.

The place Margarethenried is so small it would be pointless to have subdivisions or several toponyms.Probably only 30 people or so.In Flemish "winkelhaak" would denote an angle as winkl does in German, but also connotes "corner" in Flemish. As well in Dutch as Flemish it is also a shop; altough i would not assume that the bride is born in Engelbrechts' shop; possibly she could have seen the light in Engelbrechts corner.

@KamillaKovacs3 Thanks for your reply. I had looked at Engelbrechtsmünster, but didn't think it was the same place. There is a place (outlying farm) named Winklmann near Margarethenried, so "Winkl" could be part of the proper name, not just a descriptor.

@Adrien Kintziger I appreciate your reply. While Margarethenried might be small, it was the seat of the parish which serviced several surrounding communities. Names can change through time. Perhaps Engelbrechtswinkl was a "local" name vs. official place name.

The toponym Winkl seems to exist many times as Bavarikon.de provides about 172 hits to the term or related terms.I did not find significant Engelbrecht's or Winkl when adding "alte karten " to the term.=> try Winkl..

@Adrien Kintziger Thanks for the note. I actually looked at Bavarikon.de the other day.
