Problem with FamilySearch link to church record images
I am getting an 'image not available' message on many of the FamilySearch records that I am currently working on (1700s/1800s church records in Rhineland-Pfalz). Is there an issue with the archives?
Also, is there a way to search this forum to see if this issue has been discussed before?
Thanks!

Yes, that message was the one I was thinking of. It generally indicates a technical/IT error rather than access restrictions on the records.

You can type "image not available" in the search box on the community home page, and several results will come up.
Also, make sure that you are logged in to FamilySearch when you are trying to view the images. The system logs you out after a relatively short period of inactivity.
The current system of access rights is complicated at best. And the situation may change if an archive enters into additional contracts that may limit image access to a specific website.

@Tom Randolph could you post a screenshot or type the message in full? If it's the one I think you are referring to, that message usually indicates a temporary IT error. I suggest trying again tomorrow.
Also, make sure you are logged in before trying to view any records on FamilySearch. The messages you get can be different when you are not logged in.

@A van Helsdingen: I hope it is just a temporary problem -- but it's been over a month since I started working on these records.
