Have you looked in FamilySearch, Ancestry, My Heritage? I like the Public Member Tree Search at Ancestry a lot. There is also DNA to find your relatives that can help you build your tree or help you find that family bible. It looks to me like you have already found the Immigration records. Have you found their marriage records? This will many times give their parents' names, especially during that time period. I know that family history work can be very frustrating and rewarding. It took me 40 years to find my grandmother's biological father (she was illegitimate), and she knew most of his name, and a whole lot about him. Please let me know how this goes for you, or if I can be of further assistance. This comment will bump you up to the top of the Discussions so other people can help you.

Thank you for comments. Yes I have tried all of those websites. Most of the data is showing his birth year is 1864. Not sure about his immigration records and most records say 1881. I haven’t been able to determine his correct record coming over. There are so many Henry Bruns…it is very hard to find the right one. I do have his marriage certificate from Saint Liborius church dated Oct 21, 1891 shows Henricus Bruns and says his father‘s name as Hermann Heinrich Bruns and not sure if this woman is his mother but it says Maria Anna leigers. I do have his naturalization papers dated Oct 3, 1896 and just says Henry Bruns. I have had my DNA done and that has not given me any help and if it will I don’t know how to go about doing that if you could help me. I do really appreciate any help you can send my way I’ve been trying to find more out about my great grandfather and his family for about 10 years now so it’s been a long journey. I’ve gone to the library and had genealogists help me from there and they weren’t able to find out any more than finding his marriage certificate and naturalization paper for me. I would like to get his birth certificate because I got a feeling that his name is not just Henry John. it’s probably some other names, but with not knowing that info, I think it would be impossible to find his birth certificate. His obituary from the newspaper says that he was “ our dear Brother”. Without knowing his parents names or siblings names and if they came over to United States too, I’m at a standstill. Thank you so much . Any suggestions or avenues to to go I would greatly appreciate it.
