**Comment: I'm not sure this word is "wurde". It appears to start with a "w" and end with an "r", but I can't figure out what this word is.

It too has me perplexed. The sentence works well without it. And wurde doesn't make sense.
The first record has the same sequence of words but much clearer. What do you think?

It looks like "wieder" which translates as "again" but this doesn't make sense in this context.
And as you say, the prase works well without this word.
Hopefully another volunteer will be able to set us both straight with this word.
