help to find information
Hi! Thanks for creating such an extraordinaire group. I´m seeking guidance to find some of my relative’s history in Germany (My wife´s ancestors).
I´m looking at two different searches and was wondering if there are any databases in specific I should be looking into. From the searches in familySearch I did not retrieve any results.
First search is trying to locate Lorenz Wimbauer - about 1808 – Deceased • K8YS-Q8P. His place of birth is Hausmehring,, Bayern, Germany and his marriage date is 1840 - Altham,ERDING,OBERBAYERN,BAYERN – I´m looking to retrieve his parents name or any other information.
Second search is Norbert Asam - Deceased • G67J-KDP and his Wife Anna Asam 1895–Deceased- G67V-874. Region is Hohenfels / Regensburg.
Any toughts? Thanks for your time and help!

Hi, Daniel--
I have a couple of thoughts.
1) Are you a member of Ancestry.com. I love to search under "Search" Public Member Trees. I have been able to find a lot of great information there sometimes from other members.
2) Since you seem to have some dates--here are a couple of other ideas. a) Search the FamilySearch Wiki (FamilySearch missionaries can help you do this) for information that has not yet been indexed. Or other information that might be helpful in your search. b) Write the areas (courthouses, cemeteries) for certificates/information they might have. Cemeteries are generally very helpful, and the information is usually free.
3) Has your wife had her DNA done? By doing her DNA, it is possible to connect with other family members. One of them just might have information that you do not have. (That happened in my case.) There also might be a family bible out there. In the old days, a family bible was always kept.
I wish you great success in your search, along with patience. I have been working on family history since 1976, and I have found it to be a very frustrating experience at times. It also brings me great joy. Please keep me informed of your progress and let me know if I can be of any further assistance. PaulaAnn
