Uploading genealogies of non-members
I received a call from a member of my stake. He was given a pile of geneological records tracing the lineage of the individual back many many generations and fully documented with all the records needed. This man was not a member of the church but knew we cared about genealogy so he turned it over to this member of my stake. What is the best way to handle these records? The individual won't be uploading all this and some of these records would be excellent to have access to for other members.

@Phoebe1740 If the person wants you to, the information can be added to FamilySearch Family Treeor uploaded as a GEDCOM to the Genealogies section of FamilySearch.org. Much depends on what form the information is in.
If you want to add it to Family Tree, you would need to see if you can find people in the records the person provided who might already be in Family Tree first. You can use the Find option after you click Family Tree to search for some of the names. If you were to find some, you could add documentation and additional names that might be in the information you were given.
In the Help Center, you can look at this article to learn how to search the tree.
If you can't find any of the people, you can start by adding a "Unconnected Person" and build the tree from that individual. To find that option, click Family Tree and then Tree. After your tree opens, click Recents at the top. At the bottom of the Recents list, click Add Unconnected Person. Again, the Help Center is useful, with the article:
How do I add an unconnected person to Family Tree?
Or, if the info is in an electronic format that you can convert to a GEDCOM file, you can upload it to Genealogies. Once more, the Help Center comes to the rescue with the article:
How do I upload my GEDCOM file?

Wow, this was great info. I just got off the same kind of phone call and I looked for a knowledge article and became frustrated as nothing came up. I decided to go to Community and try there. And yours was the first thing I saw. Thank you so much !
