Ratcliffe Family
Hi There! Brent Manners here (G7K5-V22), I'm trying to trace my wife Margaret Lynne Snell's (G75L-NWS) ancestors and have hit a brick wall at George Ratcliffe (G4Y3-739) born 1772 in, I believe, Garstang, Lancashire, England and his wife Ann Lilly (G4Y3-398) born 1775 in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England. They married in Newcastle in 1806 FreeREG indicates he was a Cotton Stamper and she the daughter of James Lilly, a Coach Smith. They had a least one son, John Ratcliffe born in Newcastle in 1807. I am stuck there and can't seem to find any birth records, or any other for either of them, or their parents. Any help would be so very greatly appreciated! Thanks indeed, in advance! Yours Truly, Brent

Thank you for posting your question to the group.
The ID numbers for you and your wife are private as you are both living and therefore cannot be found by others searching FamilySearch ("FS"). The one for George, being deceased, is searchable.
I see that the additional information you have about the couple comes from the baptism record of their son. John. The image is available on FS.
I checked on Ancestry and three members that I could find list George on their trees but all without further information.
It is unusual for a couple to have only one child. Perhaps Ann died young. There are records of children to a George and Isabella in Newcastle after 1810.
Have you checked the records of Garstang? Sometimes a first child is christened in the parish of the mother and subsequent ones in the parish of the father assuming that the couple are living in the latter.
In the Research Help section on the right towards the top of the screen displaying the individual, various records are available that can be attached including the marriage and baptism of John. It is worth attaching these. If you are unsure how to do this, please ask.
You have George's death abt 1838 and birth abt 1772. Is the latter based on age at death? Where did you find the information on the death? This should be on civil registration. Have you tried to get a death certificate?
You have Ann born abt 1775. Is this an educated guess or based on some record?
It is worth creating a document where you list all the information you have about them, where you got it from and where you have searched - whether you found anything or not. Some brick walls seem quite impenetrable but sometimes they can crack!
Regards
Graham
