Seeking birth/family info on Nancy Johnson b. 1891 Halayard
Hello,
I'm conducting research into Nancy Johnson, born in Sweden (possibly in Halayard, Blekinge) in 1891 to Mattes Johnson (born around 1860). I can't say for certain who Nancy's mother is.
She emigrated to the US in Oct 1912 with brothers Carl and Lars. She later returned to Sweden, accompanied by her son Jack Arthur (b. 1917 in Cook County, IL, father unknown) and they returned to the US in 1922. She married Gus Christensen on 9 Dec in Cook County, IL and they lived in Waukegan, Lake County, Illinois. Nancy died in 1950.
I could use some help finding birth information for Nancy. I've tried what information I have on her, hoping it will be of some help.
Thanks for your time and consideration!

Here's my take on Nancy!
I believe your first record is wrong, I can't find any Nancy with brothers named Lars and Carl!
But, I did find one Nancy Nathalia Johansson born 1891-08-06 in Kroksjömåla, Hällaryd, Blekinge

If you can confirm that Nancy Nathalia is "your" Nancy then I'll add the sources I found while I was searching.
I used Emiweb.se to search for any Nancy leaving or entering Sweden in 1912, 1913 and 1922. There is only 1 match. I then back tracked her to Kroksjömåla0 -
Hi David,
Thanks for your fast response. I concur with you that my first record is wrong. I thought it might've been related to "my" Nancy only due to the date of emigration. However, having looked at the record that you attached which shows Nancy Nathalia's father as what appears to me to be "Mattis", I think that you are on the right track. FindaGrave shows "Nancy A." on her gravemaker. I've checked her 1930, 1940 and 1950 US Federal Census entries and none list her middle initial. I'm sorry I can't give you a more definitive answer about her middle name.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.
thanks for looking into it.

Sorry, David. I meant to ask you — what do you make out Nansi's mother's name to be in the document?
thanks,

Hi David,
Wow! I'll need to take some time to review what you sent but thanks so much for your help. Nancy would be my wife's relation, according to Ancestry DNA. Her grandson (Jack Arthur's son), Jack Herbert Johnson, is my wife's 3rd cousin. I don't know who Jack Arthur's father was — his birth record only lists Nancy as his mother. Jack Arthur was sometimes known as Jack Arthur Johnson or, later, Jack Arthur Christensen, when Nancy married in Carl Gustav Christensen in Lake County, Illinois on 9 Dec 1925. Jack Arthur appears to have been known by both surnames.
I'm trying to establish Nancy's connection to my wife. My wife's great grand-parents were Ernest Johnson and Emma Johanna Marie Jacobsen. Ernest was born to Mans Johannsson and Anna Olson on 24 Sep 1878 in Langehall, Bleking, Sweden (see attached). Ernest's siblings included Ida Hanna (25 Aug 1872), Fred Maurice (14 jan 1886), Viktor Julius (29 Dec 1881), and Hulda (11 Sep 1880). I believe Ernest and Nancy's Johnsons are somehow tied together but haven't been able to make the connection yet.
Thanks for your help and time. I greatly appreciate it!
Bill

Hi David,
On a few (not all) of the links you recently sent me, I'm getting a log-in screen. Any suggestions? It looks like the links after the Move Out record have the issue I'm describing.
thanks,
Bill

Hi!
You need to create an account on the Riksarkivet website. This is due to the fact that some of the sources are after 1920. The link is so you can create an account, after that it should't be a problem with any links

Ok — thanks for that tip — I'll do that since I expect that will continue to have a need to reference the site in the future.
