DNA-testing - about 1800 - Lage&Sprenger - looking for relatives
I have some family from Prussia, which means I also have DNA from Switzerland/Denmark.
I am specifically looking for a gggg-grandfather, Friedrich Lage (born about 1782, died 1875 Preußisch Holland, East Prussia) who was married to Louise Sprenger. His death document states his mother and father are unknown. Relatives of Friedrich or Louise would be helpful.
I am just starting to learn some basics on the old German language, so right now I wouldn't know what I am looking at.
Would anyone like to assist me to see if there are some documents of relatives in Switzerland?
Thank you very much.

Hello Tammy - you write "I have some family from Prussia, which means I also have DNA from Switzerland/Denmark." To be honest - I don't quite understand why the fact of family from Prussia means that you also have DNA from Switzerland/Denmark - why not also France or Poland or ...?
But let's assume there is a connection to Switzerland. Have you got any document pointing at least vaguely to Switzerland?
When and where did Friedrich Lage and Louise Sprenger get married, i.e. do you have the marriage entry? Lage is not mentioned in the Register of Swiss Surnames - if this family ever was Swiss, it would have become extinct before about 1935 - or the spelling in Switzerland was different (e.g. Lager). Problem - right now we don’t have a starting point for any efficient research on Lage.
With Sprenger it is the opposite: 14 places of citizenship (since before 1800) in cantons AG, LU, SG, TG and ZH (plus one in Liechtenstein) … to many potential starting points - unless you have some documented (not DNA) lead to at least a region in Switzerland.
If there is no such document you may have to wait until you find a contact to someone else with Sprenger ancestors, who had his DNA tested. https://www.geneal-forum.com/phpbb/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=117 is a subforum for DNA projects: no Sprenger mentioned yet, but you could register (free of charge and without obligation) and start a new thread on Sprenger from Switzerland.

I do not have a marriage entry yet, nor any other information on Sprenger. I will keep looking for more documentation. I have taken a DNA test and I am 15% Swedish. I am unsure yet if it's from the Lage or Sprenger family.
Thank you for your information.
