I am looking for names of "Homes for unwed mothers" in the State of New York I think in Buffalo, NY. Looking for records of babies adopted out during the years of 1950 to 1955. The home was reported to have girls from 12 to 38 years of age. The mothers did not know the date their baby was born, no calendars and limited access to outside. I have registered with the state of NY adoption agency.

    @WKathleenM4

    Hi Kathleen by the 1950s, the Florence Crittenton Association of America, the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities and other organizations operated more than 200 maternity homes in 44 states. Altogether, the homes housed about 25,000 young women a year.

    In Buffalo, NY, there is the St. Maria's Home. Here is their website https://stmariashome.org/

    I'm sure there are other homes for unwed mothers and children. Google Search is another good way to find homes for unwed mothers.

    I hope this is helpful.
