Anyone have any information about the new "Family Name Assist" in LCR mentioned in the 2024 FamilySearch Leader Instruction that T&FHC should be aware?

LCR, meaning the Leadership and Clerk Resources.

I went here to try and understand what the LCR is and this gave me some more breadcrumbs to follow regarding your question. https://swisscows.com/en/web?query=Family+Name+Assist+LCR

Temple and Family History Leadership Instruction 2024 DISCUSSION GUIDE

Thank you for gathering and watching the Temple and Family History Leadership Instruction

as leaders. As you watch the messages, you will be invited to counsel together. Consider

using the questions below as a guide, or adapt them to the needs of your council. Consider

reviewing “Principles of Effective Councils,” (General Handbook: Serving in The Church of Jesus

    Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4.4).

    1. What did the Spirit teach you as you listened to this instruction?

    2. Who can we help have a good first-time temple baptism and confirmation experience?

    Consider listing them by name.

    3. How can we help each Church leader utilize Ordinances Ready and the Family Name

    Assist?

Is "Family Name Assist" the same as "FamilySearch Helper"? https://www.familysearch.org/help/helper/

I suspect that more information will come to light to help our ward leaders use Family Name Assist.

I found this, which indicates that it is not FamilySearch Helper. https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/purpose-of-family-name-assist

So the scenario would be that a person who has recently been baptized and is encouraged to attend the temple can take a printed card to the temple of an ancestor via a quick look after a few questions are answered at the desk of the Branch President or Ward Bishop. And then consultation can be set up with a Ward Temple and History Consultant to expand the Family Fan chart. Got it.

How do we find Family Name Assist? I have access to LCR as a Ward TFH Leader, but I cannot find it anywhere.

@Steve Wassom, T&FH Consultants do not have access to Family Name Assist. I think Ward Council members have assess. Not sure at all if the Ward TFH Leader has access. Here is a link that may be of interest.

Thank you Chas for providing the official statement about Family Name Assist. It is not a tool that TFH Leaders or Consultants have access to. Here is some more information about Family Name Assist.

It is definitely not the same as FamilySearch Helper, which is an AI tool for research.
