Where would I find a list of people who settled in the Dutch Colony in Brazil in the early 1600's?

I have a many times great grandfather who was born in the Dutch Colony in Brazil in 1623. I have his mother's name, but his father's name is not confirmed. Is there a list available of people who inhabited the colony in the 1600's? Thanks.

Do you know where the colony was? I found this book that might be useful but not knowing where in Brazil, this may not be so useful. https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/73569?availability=Family History Library

Thanks for responding Debbie. Unfortunately I don't have any further information regarding the colony, only that it was in Brazil. I will check out the book. Hopefully it will give some clues!

Since posting my original query I have discovered a marriage record for parents of my many times great grandfather (Willem Hoffmeyer) so I now have both the names of his father (Derck Hoffmijer) and his mother (Geertruy Heironymus). I have also discovered there were more colonies than just one as I had assumed from the information of his being born in "the" Dutch Colony. I believe but have not yet confirmed that Derck Hoffmijer died in Brazil and Geertruy and Willem traveled to New Amsterdam (New York) after his detath. Still trying to locate their names in Brazilian colony records.
