Question about a family
Good Afternoon,
I have come across some records that have me a little confused if you could help me figure this out I would be so grateful.
-So, I am working on a family from Essingen, Aalen, Wurttemberg. This couple Johannes Vogt and Barbara Elsar had two children here and then they moved to Nesslau (which is about 6.4km away walking distance). The couple got married in this area and then added 4 more children to their family. The marriage record I will attach. The parents are the correct parents for Johannes Vogt and Barbara Elsar. There is a location for the marriage listed under the date and I could not read it? Record is found right side of page second from bottom.
-Here is the dilemma-The mother Barbara is listed as Oesler in the birth records of the last 4 children. Could that possibly be just the scribe spelling or hearing the name? I could attach a link for a birth record here as well so you can see this for Barbara. Top left.

-I found a family book record from Essingen that has all the children on it. The dates are all correct and the children are all on here-the only thing different is the marriage date by which is off by 13 days-so I am wondering if that could have been the bans.

I have from the same area Elßer and Oelsser family members in one family. I guess the person who wrote the record just spelled it the way he thought it right. The pronunciation is practically the same. The further you go back in time the more spelling variations there are for the same name.

The alternation between Elßer and Oelsser/Ölsser is easy to explain. There is a very common linguistic trait in Württemberg whereby people unround umlauted vowels, so ö>e (think of the old Wayne Newton song, Danke Schoen, it was schayn. similar trait.)
But the metathesis of l and s is more difficult to explain. I can offer no good linguistic explanation.

The name is Elßer or Elsser,

You are correct that was a typo on my part. I have seen the name Elser before but after I sent in a record to the community site they thought it was Elsar. I will attach her birth record I found today. Thank you so much for your help.
