Hello,

I found this book which gives a nice History of Zduńska Wola:

https://www.tpzw.pl/files/publikacje/e_h_nejman_cztery_pokolenia_rodu_zlotnickich.pdf

Page 68 provides a list of residents who signed a petition/application for the establishment of the city. Does anyone know if/where a scan of this petition may be available?

You may try to contact Archiwum Panstwowe w Lodzi as they may be able to help you. Before you do it, you may search for this petition with its original tile in szukajwarchiwach.

    Hello Maria,

    Thank you for your recommendations.

Success! The application was found in the record books of the notary Wincenty Kobyłecki in Szadek.

May I recive help with translating his writing?

Also, why are some signatures preceded with xx ?

    Link to the record book:

    Image numbers 748, 751, and 752.

Thank you again and best regards

Please try to use Chrome/Google translate and see if you can right click and get it translated to English. Otherwise, you can copy the text and enter into Google Translate Polish to English.

xx stand for signatures of people who could not write, the recorder wrote their names and they signed it by making a cross by their name.

    Hi Maria,

Regarding the link I posted to the szukajwarchiwach document: I am unable to decipher most of the handwriting, and the document has not been transcribed into text.

I cannot get to the scans you requested, 748, 751,752. You are good with computers, maybe you could try Transcribus to transliterate the written text and then use Google Translate to have it translated to English.

If you cannot do Transcribus, please send me the scans Nos. 748, 751, 752, in a way that I could access them.
