Please Advise On How To Record A Baptism Record Noted As Posthumous
2 Feb 1869 Baptism record in Shrawley, Worcestershire for John Bond, son of John and Eleanor Bond. John is noted as "posthumous son of". What does this mean? Does this change how I record this Baptism record?

A calendar review finds this date of Baptism to be a Tuesday. Seems unlikely to conduct a Baptismal service mid-week. Possibly the child had recently died, and they wanted him Baptized before his burial?

Clearly he would not have been baptised after he died! As you suggest, possibly the service was conducted in a hurry as his health was failing fast.
Found the birth record on the GRO
but could not find a death record.
On reflection, I think it means that his father had died.
I would record the baptism in the normal way but add a note quoting the words from the baptism record.

I would agree that, in spite of the ambiguous wording, the "posthumous" almost certainly relates to John Bond senior. I have encountered similar examples, although perhaps worded a little clearer.

@Graham Buckell, @Paul W
Thanks to both of you for your helpful advice. I will proceed as advised, and followup on the death record for father John Bond.
