Irish Land Records
During the 1800's, my ancestor was a tenant in Ireland. What can land records tell me about him and his family?

You could try looking on the GENUKI website
Alternatively you could try the research group that focuses on Ireland.

A very good question. One of the main resources given the lack of census records would be the Griffiths Valuation. This was a tax levied against any property circa 1860, and owner/lessor. It will only list the head of the family, no other members will be mentioned. If you know the county and approximate area the family lived it can be a very useful tool. One of the best sites for Griffiths is described in the url below, but be warned Griffiths can be a bit of an art form to get to grips with but can be very useful. You can find maps, homes, lots. Well worth a look.
