header link in Record Information often goes to wrong person
When I open Record Information for a record in Search or in the Similar Records column on a record, and click on the black bar at the top of Record Information to get to the record, I'm taken to the record page for the primary person on the record, not the record page for the person I'm looking at.
Examples:
- I click on the 1930 census record information link for Helen Roberts and am taken to the head of household, her father Peter. If I wanted Peter's record I would have clicked on him; I want Helen's record because I want her detailed information and a citation going to her.
- On a record for Ada Young Eyler, the similar records include a Social Security record where she's mentioned as the mother of Lester Eyler. I click on the black bar and am taken to Lester, not Ada. I want the version for Ada, because I'm citing this as support for her maiden name. If I wanted Lester, I could've clicked on him in the list of people in Record Information.
This started happening with in the last couple weeks and seems like a bug. I should not have to make an extra click to get to the person who I want, especially when I can still get to anyone else on the record with one click from the links in the list of people on the record.

URLs are useful when reporting errors.

It's great that you provided examples, but it would be much more helpful if you provided links. The name "Helen Roberts" is sufficiently common that I'm having a hard time finding the record you are referring to in your first example.
I was able to find your second example, because the name Eyler is far less common and there's only one Ada Young in Family Tree who married an Eyler and had a son named Lester. That is Ada Amelia Young LZR1-56T. It seems clear that you are referring to the 2001 NUMIDENT Source for Lester Eyler in which his mother Ada Young is mentioned.
Your reference to a page that has a "black bar" seems to pertain to the page you go to when you click on the Web Page (Link to the Record) for that source. That looks like this:
The only place I can click in the black bar is on the name "Lester Thomas Eyler"; clicking on that name should indeed take me to his record, since I'm already on Ada Young's page.
So I'm guessing you are talking about some other page. Could you provide links (and perhaps a screen shot or two) so that we can tell what you are specifically referring to? Thanks!

In my example
I started from the 1930 US Census Collection and searched using exact on both names since no other details were available. Only one record was returned, the URL in my comment.
Clicking in the grey highlighted area opened the side panel.
Clicking on Helen's name, in black, at the top of the side panel opens the page for Peter Roberts.

@Áine.ní.Donnghaile Thank you for those specific steps. You did a great job of figuring out the flow that led to the OP's report.
@S. L. Casteel Assuming that those are the correct steps for your experience, it does seem odd that clicking in the header of the side panel always takes you to the head of household's record. We'll get that reported.
But if you are interested in efficiency, you can save yourself a click by clicking on the person's name instead of just clicking somewhere in the gray rectangle that is highlighted for the entire search result.
If you do that, you'll go straight to Helen's record, instead of doing one click to open the side panel and another to go to her record (I know that it currently goes to her father's record, but I'm speaking hopefully assuming it will be fixed eventually).

The side panel can be useful when there are many results. I often use the side panel to skim the information and discard some results before drilling down in more detail.

I certainly agree that the side panel is often useful — I use it all the time as you described. I didn't intend to discourage its use.
But there are times that there is no good reason to go through the side panel. If you are looking at a search result where the names, relationships, and ages give you great confidence that it's the record you want, then there's no need to waste a click on showing the side panel. That's particularly true if your intent is to go to the person's record details and the side panel header currently sends you to the head of household's record. I just wanted to make sure that @S. L. Casteel was aware of that option.
