Hello,

The snapshot of the pic below is a marriage index of Tyssa, Tetschen, Bohemia, Austria (present-day Tisa, Czechia). The marriage index is found in the Czechia archives. If you're interested in reviewing more images in addition to the one below, please refer to this link -

Czechia Archives - Marriage Index

It's difficult to differentiate between January/June and March/May in the image and I'd like your opinion regarding the correct translation of the months of interest. If you don't mind, provide an example of each month of interest (January, June, March, and May). That would be helpful to me.

Thank-you!

    Hello @dsrt,

    January vs. June:

    6th record from the top:
    The date is: 29 Junÿ [note that there is a curved mark above the "u" (which looks like a smile) which I can't duplicate here].

    10th record from the top:
    The date is: 29 Jänner [note the umlaut (double dot) over the "a" and the straight line over the "n" — that straight line over the "n" means to double the "n" making the spelling of the month "Jänner.

    March vs. May:

    18th record from the top:
    The date is 5 März [note the umlaut over the "a"].

    20th record fropm the top:

    The date is: 5 Maÿ [note the double dots above the letter "y" which is not an umlaut in this instance but a mark to distinguish the letter "y" from other similar letters such as "g" and "z"].

    You can see these distinctions clearer using the link you provided as opposed to the image attached here.

    P.S. You may also find the following spellings for these months elsewhere in the index:

    Jänner = Januar.

    Junÿ = Juni.

    März = Merz.

    Maÿ = Mai.

    Also when trying to determine which month it is, consider the length of the word: Junÿ will be shorter than Jänner and Maÿ will be shorter than März.
