Is Australia being treated differently for CET rollout?

I asked about CET in the general community, but thought it might be of use here in CET specifically.

I'm based in Australia, so I think we are GEO-located by some services. E.G. my home page is completely different and other services as well from the examples used in all the training. That's another tangent about creating training that I'll leave for another day.

I tried to do CET this morning. Uploaded my GEDCOM which went fine. Then I wanted to work with it as a private tree. I had to dig forever in the help files to figure out what to do next, only to finally find the process described in the Family GROUP help. I had set up a Family Group, expecting something to be available of value. This CET tree would be useful. BUT there is no CET option in the Family Tree menu drop down. Has something been left out to link the two? Or is there an issue with non-US members (again)?

I teach about FS all the time here, so understanding what is actually going on would be very useful. Thanks for any help.

Thank-you for your interest in the CETs feature. The CET feature is still under development and part way through it's rollout. As the development of essential features completes and the rollout progresses it will become available to more and more users. If the feature is not yet available for you, you can still upload your GEDCOM file to create a published tree in the Pedigree Resource File collection of the Genealogies feature.

    Hi @JanW2

My understanding is the CET hasn't been rolled out yet. That will explain why you can't find anything in the drop-down menus. Apparently only select few were invited to trial CET, so you are one of the lucky ones by the sounds of it - I would have loved to have been invited. 😔 So given the limited trial I'm not surprised it's difficult to find help and support until it's fully released.

As far as your comment about your home page…yes, your home page is personalised to your area (wherever you live in the world) and also to you specifically, depending on if you are trialing Lab experiments. Where are you located in Australia?

I hope this helps you. 😊

Thanks. No, I didn't get an invitation. I can't remember if I asked to be included when it was in labs, but it's gone from there. And the instructions don't make any distinction about when it's available. They just state what to do.

    I'm just outside of Melbourne.

@JanW2 @Liz Solomon The CET is no longer "Early Access" and is no longer in "Labs". It has been rolled out and put into production. However, at this time, many additional features are being added so changes will continue until all features and enhancements have been completed.

@JanW2 if your GEDCOM successfully uploaded, it should have created a CET. If not, please send the date of the upload; the name of your GEDCOM; along with the name of your "CET"; along with screenshots showing the "Family Tree dropdown menu."

Please include the steps you took to create the tree, which operating system you used, which browser, and which 3d party software used to create the tree. I will then forward your information on to the engineering team for trouble shooting.

By the way, CET and Family Group Tree are separate products.

Again, thank you for your feedback.

Sorry, I posted the dropdown menu without CET elsewhere. Since it isn't there, I can't create a Family Tree to go with it. I have created a Family Group, but as I posted elsewhere in a comment, CET doesn't show up anywhere in my drop down menus. So there is no way to upload a GEDCOM to it. The GEDCOM I uploaded was via Genealogies and I have no idea how to find it again. The date was this week and had the name Whitaker in it. Here's the link to it. https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/genealogies/submission/3/MMK2-S8R I get a message that says: Site's 'www.familysearch.org' robots.txt did not allow access to the url when I just pasted it into this message.

These screenshots are likely out of order because I went and got them separately.

@JanW2 thank you for the additional information and screenshots. This will be forwarded to the engineering team. Thank you for your feedback.

@JanW2 your tree "Whitaker starting backward from Indiana" appears to be a family group tree. What name did you give your CET when you created it or when you uploaded your gedcom file?

I have NOT created a CET because there is NO CET listed for me to CREATE. That's the problem. All I was able to do is upload a Gedcom file and create a Family Group. I created the Family Group many weeks ago.

If it was uploaded to Genealogies, you can get back to it by:

    1. clicking Search in the top menu

2.Click Genealogies in the drop-down (likely fifth from the top of the list)

    3. Scroll to the bottom

    4. Click on the button "Upload your individual tree"

You should then see a line indicating your previously uploaded GEDCOM. In this system, it is read-only and cannot be edited. If you wish to compare and add into Family Tree, you can follow the instructions here: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-copy-information-from-my-gedcom-file-into-family-tree starting with step 3 within the section labelled Part 1 since you have done the instructions prior to this already.

What I want to do is make a private tree in CET. I really don't want to upload it into FamilyTree itself. If that's what I need to do, I would have assumed others would have said so already??? So I don't think what you're suggestion applies, does it? I can find the GEDCOM file again by searching for myself, that's not a problem. It's the next stage of use that I'm after. I received a message among many that it may not be rolled out completely yet, despite what some have been saying. But thanks for trying.

We appreciate your interest in CET. Continue to check back frequently to see if CET is available to your location. For now, I will close this discussion so that further comments are not generated here.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any future questions or concerns.

    Thank you for using CET.
